Ocular disease based optometry residency with a primary and secondary care program. Provide >1500 direct patient visits. Program provides advanced clinical training in anterior segment disease, glaucoma, retina, neuro-ophthalmology, strabismus and refractive surgery as well as training in pre/post-op cataract, post-op lid procedures, retina, glaucoma and refractive surgeries. Rotate with Alan Robin, M.D. (glaucoma specialist) and Richard Chiu, D.O. (retina specialist). Observe various surgical procedures including cataract, glaucoma, lid, and retina surgeries. Participate in Emergency/on –call services along with hospital consults, nursing home consults, and local screenings. Attend weekly lectures/ophthalmology grand rounds at the Wilmer Eye Clinic at Johns Hopkins University. Attend weekly lectures at Seidenberg Protzko Eye Associates provided by various doctors. Participate in monthly reviews of 8 out of the 12 American Academy of Ophthalmology Basic Science books. Provide direct supervision/education of student interns during the last quarter of the program. Give lectures on various topics throughout the program. Participate in Clinical Research Studies as a Sub-Investigator. Learn coding and billing techniques throughout the year.
